Flash Fiction

A great story doesn’t require thousands of words; I know, my first in print had only six. Sometimes you don’t want to lose the kernel of a great scene in the fluff of a longer story. That’s where flash fiction makes its home.

About Ficlets

In 2007 a wonderful little site hit the web called ficlets. Authors would write short, modular pieces of flash fiction in under 1,024 characters. These tiny bits of fiction, or ficlets, could then be extended by other authors, in the form of prequels and sequels. Collaborative stories formed; some followed a single narrative, others branched, bifurcated and backtracked on one another.

The site was eventually taken down, though its legacy lives on at Ficly. If you’re interested, be sure to check out all of my original ficlets at the ficlets memorial.
